Alexander established new cities
Alexander founded some twenty towns: real Greek towns (poleis), permanent military garrisons (katoikiai) and temporary military settlement (phrouria). Other towns were simply just renamed. Alexandrupolis: founded in 340 by the crown prince. This was a Greek city, built among the Maedians, a tribe on the banks of the Strymon. Neighborhood of modern Sandanski (Bulgaria). By establishing these cities and towns, Alexander's rose his power and made many people join the army which helped him to conquer 2000 miles of the world. That was a huge accomplishment and still now, no one could brake this reacord of conquered land, especially that he fought many bloody wars and lost a lot of men.
